The book of James has often been understood as the proverbial book of the New Testament.  The author, James, the eldest half-brother of Jesus writes to the dispersion that occurred because of Stephen’s persecution (Acts 7, AD 31-34).  He focused his attention on the importance of applying knowledge in everyday Christian living.  It is from this vantage point that James instructs his readers that engaging the mind (FAITH) without it impacting our behavior (WORKS) lends itself to an inadequate understanding of gospel living (James 1:19-26).

As we walk through the study of James it is important to engage our mind/hearts in a correct understanding of the meaning of the text, motives of the heart, and how these should help us manage the manner of our Christian life.

Small groups and our youth and children’s programs will begin the week of September 7th.

Strength in Christ Men's Ministry is hosting a breakfast on Saturday, September 26th from 8:30-10:30am. The event includes breakfast, worship, prayer, fellowship, testimony, and teaching. All men and high-school age boys are welcome to this free event.

Make a lasting impact in the life of a student. Pray for Me links the generations of our church community together through prayer. Adults sign up as Prayer Champions committing to praying for and getting to know a student (grades 7-12) for the school year. It's really as simple as that. Sign up online by Sunday, September 20th. The Campaign begins with a kickoff lunch in the youth area on Sunday, September 27th at noon.

The "Starting Point" class digs into the doctrine and theology of The Chapel, who we are as a body, and what membership looks like. This class serves as a great introduction to The Chapel for new attenders, and is a required step for membership at The Chapel.        

The next class will meet during the Sunday School hour (9:00am) in Room C3 for five Sundays beginning October 4th.

Debbie Young will speak over the theme "Behold the Beauty of the Lord" based on Psalm 27:4. Our hope for this weekend is that women will strive to be intentional in praying for one another, studying the Word together, building relationships, and resting together. Meals and lodging will be provided by Pinecrest. Ladies of all ages are invited.

Our annual Missions Sunday will be Sunday, October 25th from 9am to 4pm. Our guest speaker is Sean Cooper with Global Serve International. He will have multiple sessions starting during Sunday School. Grow in your understanding of God’s heart to reach every nation, tribe, people and language. Lunch will be provided for registered attendees. Registration deadline is Sunday, October 18th.
