FALL Small GroupS
The book of James has often been understood as the proverbial book of the New Testament. The author, James, the eldest half-brother of Jesus writes to the dispersion that occurred because of Stephen’s persecution (Acts 7, AD 31-34). He focused his attention on the importance of applying knowledge in everyday Christian living. It is from this vantage point that James instructs his readers that engaging the mind (FAITH) without it impacting our behavior (WORKS) lends itself to an inadequate understanding of gospel living (James 1:19-26).
As we walk through the study of James it is important to engage our mind/hearts in a correct understanding of the meaning of the text, motives of the heart, and how these should help us manage the manner of our Christian life.
Small groups and our youth and children’s programs will begin the week of September 7th.
Mom2Mom
In a season where much of our information comes from online sources, the truth is, we need real life, real person relationships to equip us in our parenting, to encourage us and to walk together in the Gospel of Christ. Mom2Mom meets the second Friday of every month (Sept-May) from 9:30-11:30am at The Chapel. This ministry is for all moms with kids from infant through high school years. Join us each month as we enjoy breakfast, a speaker, discussion and a small craft. Limited child care.

fall Christian growth seminar
Saturday, September 12th
Is it harder for you to change and grow as a Christian than it should be? Do you wonder what is holding you back? Have you ever considered that it might be idolatry?
Using real-life stories and examples, Brad Bigney shows us how the idols we might not even recognize can still have devastating effects in our lives.
In this transparent, honest book, he helps us to identify our idols, understand how they lead us to commit treason against the gospel—and finally repent and begin the process of change by turning to the only One who can fill our every need.
Cost: $10 per attendee
Childcare available for registered attendees - $5 per child (ages 0-10). Deadline to register for childcare is Sunday, August 30th.
MEN'S BREAKFAST
Saturday, September 26th
Strength in Christ Men's Ministry is hosting a breakfast on Saturday, September 26th from 8:30-10:30am. The event includes breakfast, worship, prayer, fellowship, testimony, and teaching. All men and high-school age boys are welcome to this free event.
Sign up is requested so we can get a headcount for food.
Pray for Me
Make a lasting impact in the life of a student. Pray for Me links the generations of our church community together through prayer. Adults sign up as Prayer Champions committing to praying for and getting to know a student (grades 7-12) for the school year. It's really as simple as that. Sign up online by Sunday, September 20th. The Campaign begins with a kickoff lunch in the youth area on Sunday, September 27th at noon.
Supper Clubs
Through Supper Club participation, we gather in small groups to get to know each other better and share the fellowship of a simple meal. Much like the early church did as seen in Acts 2.
The deadline to sign up for 2026-2027 groups is September 6th. Groups will meet each month beginning in October.
Starting Point

The "Starting Point" class digs into the doctrine and theology of The Chapel, who we are as a body, and what membership looks like. This class serves as a great introduction to The Chapel for new attenders, and is a required step for membership at The Chapel.
The next class will meet during the Sunday School hour (9:00am) in Room C3 for five Sundays beginning October 4th.

LADIES' RETREAT
OCTOBER 9-11
Debbie Young will speak over the theme "Behold the Beauty of the Lord" based on Psalm 27:4. Our hope for this weekend is that women will strive to be intentional in praying for one another, studying the Word together, building relationships, and resting together. Meals and lodging will be provided by Pinecrest. Ladies of all ages are invited.
Cost: $150* per person (lodging, meals, & t-shirt)

Our annual Missions Sunday will be Sunday, October 25th from 9am to 4pm. Our guest speaker is Sean Cooper with Global Serve International. He will have multiple sessions starting during Sunday School. Grow in your understanding of God’s heart to reach every nation, tribe, people and language. Lunch will be provided for registered attendees. Registration deadline is Sunday, October 18th.

BIBLE SCIENCE FELLOWSHIP
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 10TH
How did great civilizations of the past, supposedly lower on the evolutionary time scale, accomplish amazing things that we know little or nothing of today? What happened to them, and why? Can we learn anything from them? The Bible provides a different view teaching that we were created "very good". That means, perfect! From the beginning, mankind has been indigenous, creative, and inventive. With fascinating illustrations, this DVD contrasts the evolution model with the creation model from a historic viewpoint through a look at what many ancient cultures accomplished.
This event will be held at the Cape Girardeau Public Library at 7pm.
