The Chapel is proud to serve as a Central Drop Off Location for Operation Christmas Child this year. The drop-off location is the starting point for the journey each shoebox makes to children around the world. Last year, OCC collected more than 10.5 million shoeboxes filled with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items to send to children around the world. Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has distributed these joy-filled shoeboxes in more than 170 countries and territories.
Decide whether you will pack for a boy or a girl and what age child you will pack a box for - ages 2–4, 5–9, or 10–14. Next, select a medium to large "wow" item such as a soccer ball with pump or stuffed animal, then fill your shoebox with other fun toys, hygiene items, and school supplies. Don’t forget to also include a personal note and photo - sometimes these are the child's favorite things to receive! Pray for the child who will receive your shoebox gift. And consider a donation of $10 per box to cover shipping and other project costs.
We have empty shoeboxes available in the lobby, or you can build a box online as part of our goal to build 50 boxes online.
Locally, we anticipate collecting thousands of shoeboxes from area churches, groups, and individuals and prepare them for their journey to children around the world. We would love to have you serve alongside us to reach children with the love of Christ. Collection week for 2023 will be November 13-20.
