Have you ever found it difficult to love like Jesus?
Consider the relationships God has given you. Do you find it easy to love those who are closest to you? Your spouse, your children, your friends, or co-workers?
Is love something people just tend to fall in and out of over time?
Are you willing to embrace the high calling of Jesus to “love your enemy and do good to those who do evil against you”?
How we love one another matters to the Lord.
The Christian life is one committed
to loving God and loving others. Jesus even told his followers that they ought
to be “known by their love” (John 13:35). The scripture also declares, “Anyone
who does not love does not know God, because God is love” (1 John 4:8). While
most Christians recognize the need for Christlike love, they will also admit
how challenging it is to love like this. Praise God for the example of God’s
Son, Jesus!
Jesus said, “This is my commandment,
that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one
than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:12-13). The love of God for those whom He has created was put on
display through the sending of His one and only Son (John 3:16). It is
this kind of love that Christians seek to emulate over the course of their
Christian journey.
On Saturday, September 30th, we welcome guest speaker Dr. Nicolas Ellen as he teaches us from God’s word, helping us grow in our understanding and application of God’s love.
